The program Process and Product Design is a two-year Designer's program consisting of one year of curricular work and one year involving an individual design project carried out in collaboration with industry. All courses in the program are taught in English.
Duration: two years
Salary: a salary of approximatley Euro 1,650 pm
Number of course participants: the intake is around 15 to 20 participants a year.
To apply for the PPD program, you need a strong background in Chemical Engineering.

Since its start, over 200 certified design engineers have graduated from the two-year post-master's program Process and Product Design.
One of the main features of the program is expressed in its name: besides attention to process design much attention is paid to the relation between the process and the structure and functionality of the product. This leads to the integration of process and product related disciplines in the development, design, and operationalization of processes. More and more, process engineers are finding employment in the performance products manufacturing industry.
In the first year of the program, attention is mainly focused on deepening and broadening of knowledge. Special post-master's courses are offered in study blocks. The second year focuses on the design project.
Each year, a selection of twenty graduates is admitted to the program. These can be graduates from the Dutch universities of technology with certificates in Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as graduates from the programs Applied Chemistry and Applied Physics from the University of Groningen. In addition, graduates from Wageningen University with a master's certificate from the chemistry or physics programs who have a demonstrable interest in the process industry will be welcome after having followed a supplementary program of three months at most. Applicants with master's certificates from foreign universities are expected to have a background in chemical engineering. All courses in the program are taught in English.
The multidisciplinary program Process and Product Design is the joint responsibility of the departments of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry (T), Applied Physics (N) and Mechanical Engineering (W) of TU/e.
On this website information is given on the objectives, contents, admission requirements, and professional relevance of the program.

The program is directed at the broad field of the process and product industry and aims to prepare the course participants for leading functions in the field of process design and knowledge-intensive product development. The objective is to develop their ability to define feasible targets, to identify and acquire the available means, and to synthesize these skills in the form of a completed result within the time agreed on. Linked to this all is the ability to work in and lead a usually multidisciplinary team. These are characteristic qualities for the profession of design engineer in the process and product industry.
Emphasis lies on amassing knowledge and practicing the skills in finding technical solutions for the design of:
