The Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry (ST) is one of the nine departments of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). It was established in 1957. The department has approximately 390 employees (360 fte), 13 full professors, 370 undergraduate students (bachelor and masterstudents) and about 170 graduate students (140 Ph.D. and 30 design engineers).

The department aspires to be an academic institution for education and research in chemical science and engineering that meets the highest international standards. The aim is to generate and to develop technology and scientific knowledge relevant for the long-term needs of society. Scientific curiosity and the use of newly generated knowledge are the main driving forces for the continuing enhancements of the three chosen fields of expertise: molecular, materials, and process engineering.

The vacant Ph.D. student and Post-Doc positions are in the Materials and Interface Chemistry Group SMG. Scientific activities at the Laboratory of Materials and Interface Chemistry (SMG) comprise studies on the structure–property relations of a broad range of inorganic substances and metals to polymers. The focus is on multi-phase materials, which are composed of two or more substances having different physical characteristics and in which each substance retains its identity while contributing desirable properties to the whole. 

Job info and salary
The contract period for a PhD position at the TU.e is 4 years with critical evaluation after the first year. The salary is according to the "Collective Employment Agreement Dutch Universities". A salary as usual for a PhD student in the Netherlands is offered, starting at € 2042,- gross per month in the first year, increasing to € 2502 per month in the fourth year. Moreover 8% bonus share (for vacation) is provided. Attractive secondary terms of employment.

The appointment for a post-doc position is for the duration of the project.  As an employee of the university you will receive a competitive salary as well as excellent secondary benefits (holiday allowance, etc.). The research in these projects must result in publication in internationally recognized journals and conferences. A gross monthly salary is offered between EUR 2379,-  and EUR 3755 maximum. An offer will be based on your knowledge and experience. Moreover 8% bonus share (holiday supplement) is provided annually. Assistance for finding accommodation can be given.
